Hannover Finanz Creating value with responsibility. Founded in 1979, Hannover Finanz has over 45 years of experience as an equity capital partner for SMEs and is itself a family-run company in its second generation. Here, entrepreneurs talk to entrepreneurs about equity capital. We are one of the most traditional and experienced investment companies in Germany. To date, we have successfully supported over 250 companies. The investment portfolio we manage currently comprises around 35 companies with a total of over 15,000 employees and sales of more than 4 billion euros. Hannover Finanz invests across all sectors. The main reasons for investments are growth financing and succession planning for solid medium-sized companies with annual sales of EUR 20 million or more. In addition to majority shareholdings, Hannover Finanz is one of the few investment companies in Germany that also acquires minority shareholdings. For decades, Hannover Finanz has successfully supported well-known companies such as Fielmann, Rossmann, Aixtron and Technotrans in their entrepreneurial growth, in some cases for over 20 years. In 2024, we gave ourselves a new look and refreshed our corporate design, which is a visible expression of our further development. Our team has become younger and we have added exciting companies from the cleantech and IT industries to our portfolio. Under our umbrella brand Hannover Finanz, we are now differentiating our traditional business with equity solutions, which we will now market under the HF Equity brand, the HF Opportunities brand and our private debt business will continue to operate under HF Debt, rounding off the business segments of Hannover Finanz.

On average, Hannover Finanz has invested in medium-sized family businesses operating in stable and expanding markets for a duration ranging from eight to ten years. We stand as a primary partner for entrepreneurs and management teams with growth aspirations, particularly in service- or technology-driven B2B niche sectors. Traditionally, our focus lies on entrepreneurial SMEs, with investors entrusting us with their capital for the long haul. With our evergreen structure, investment terms can align with a company’s objectives rather than being constrained by fund terms. Backed by our team and extensive network, we boast experience from over 250 completed investments across various sectors. Leveraging this experience, along with our networks and market insights, we zero in on B-2-B markets, particularly in IT services, software, advanced industrials, medical technology, and business services. We focus our investments on medium-sized companies headquartered in the DACH region, typically generating sales exceeding 20 million euros and an operating result (EBITDA) surpassing 3 million euros. Our equity investments range between 15 and 50 million euros per venture, which may be supplemented with moderate debt financing depending on the investment’s purpose. Apart from acquiring majority stakes, Hannover Finanz stands out as one of the few investment firms in Germany offering minority shareholdings.
