This support demonstrates commitment of both companies to promote technological innovation and actively participate in the development of research and training in the fields of optics and quantum engineering in France.

The Institut d’Optique, recognised worldwide for its expertise in optics, photonics and quantum technologies, recently created this chair with the aim of training the next generation of engineers and researchers specialising in these cutting-edge technologies. These innovations will revolutionise many industrial sectors, including telecommunications, cybersecurity and information technology, which represent a major strategic challenge for Europe.

Support from Antin Infrastructure Partners and Eurofiber will enable Institut d’Optique to strengthen its training, research and innovation capabilities in quantum engineering, as well as attracting talent to this fast-growing field. Thanks to this support, the Institute will be able to expand its training programmes for entrepreneurship, develop new specialist courses and strengthen collaboration between industry and academia.

Alain Aspect, Nobel Prize physics and professor at the Institut d’Optique, holder of the Augustin Fresnel Chair, says: “The development of quantum technologies is based on a detailed understanding of fundamental physics and its connection to applications. This donation from Eurofiber and Antin Infrastructure Partners will make possible the synergies between academia and industry, paving the way for major innovations. This is an opportunity for our students and researchers to work in a virtuous ecosystem.”

Rémi Carminati, Managing Director of the Institut d’Optique, underlines the importance of this partnership: “The support of Eurofiber and Antin Infrastructure Partners is a strong signal for the quantum technology ecosystem in France. It will consolidate our position as a leader in photonics and quantum technologies, thanks to the close links between education, cutting-edge research and links with industry.”

Stéphane Ifker, Managing Partner at Antin Infrastructure Partners, adds “At Antin, we are convinced that digital infrastructure will play a key role in building the world of tomorrow. By supporting the Institut d’Optique, we are investing in the training of the future generation of highly qualified engineers, essential for innovation and the development of quantum computing and communication. Antin supports academic institutions around the world and we are proud to support Alain Aspect in his research at the Institute.”

Alex Goldblum, CEO of Eurofiber said: “By supporting the Institut d’Optique, we are investing in the future of Europe’s digital economy. Quantum technologies will have a huge impact on digital infrastructure, and we are proud to help train the engineers who will be driving this revolution.”
