  • This upgrade will enable the supply of green electricity to over 22,000 households

Qualitas Energy, a global investment and management platform focused on renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure investment, announced today the acquisition of four wind farms in Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

The wind farms, which currently have an installed capacity of 10 MW, will undergo repowering with the installation of more efficient turbines, increasing total capacity to 34 MW. This enhancement will optimise land use on-site and provide sustainably generated wind power to over 22,000 households.

This repowering initiative follows others announced by the company in recent months, including the acquisition of a wind farm with 32 turbines near the German North Sea coast, which, once repowered, will reach a capacity of 21.6 MW.

“With this acquisition, we are expanding our wind energy project pipeline and reinforcing our commitment to delivering innovative energy solutions in collaboration with local communities,” explains Johannes Overbeck, Co-CEO of Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “By modernising older wind farms, we not only enhance energy efficiency but also contribute to long-term energy security and a sustainable energy supply for future generations.”

This transaction is also the first following the recent appointment of Clemens Susen as the new Head of Investment at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH, reinforcing the company’s investment strategy in the country. “We acquire projects and wind energy pipelines at all stages of development and are committed to their implementation, ensuring that the interests of local stakeholders and development partners are safeguarded,” he added.

Qualitas Energy’s German business, a subsidiary of the Qualitas Energy Group, specialices in the acquisition, financing, project development, construction, and operation of onshore wind turbines, with a mission to drive the transition to decarbonisation. The company boasts a team of over 250 employees operating across six strategic locations in Germany: Berlin, Hamburg, Wiesbaden, Trier, Cologne, and Stuttgart.
